Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, Two-time World Champion Barrel Racer, has competed professionally since 2003. Tonozzi wants the fans to know, “The ERA was started by the top cowboys in the world that will be a televised event on Fox Sports. It will showcase the top cowboys and cowgirls in each event week in and week out to build a fan base and build the sport of rodeo.”
Unlike most professional rodeo athletes, Tonozzi did not grow up in a rodeo family. She said, “It was a lot of trial and error and getting different opinions from a lot of different people.” She has definitely made a name for herself in the rodeo world. When she is not on the road competing, she is at home training new barrel prospects, going to futurities and being busy with her own horse breeding program.
She is currently married and lives in Victoria, Texas. Her hobbies include watching movies and playing golf
Brittany Pozzi-Tonozzi Q&A
Q: What excites you most about the sport?
A:Rodeo is so unpredictable when you sit in the stands you never know what you might see. Watching a person and an animal try to work to together to win can be amazing to watch. I will still get goosebumps when I watch a great timed event run or rough stock ride.
Q: What does practice look like to you?
A:I don’t practice my rodeo horses very much so I spend most of my time making sure they are fit and ready to perform. I try to make sure they have the best vet, horse shoer, and feeding program possible.
Q: Before you enter the mouth of the alley…what is on your mind?
A:It depends on what horse I am on. If I am on an old solid horse I just tell myself to go have fun and if I am on a young horse, which has been the case lately I think about that horses weaknesses and I try to focus on improving them.
